It's Military Appreciation Month and guess what? You can thank our local veterans in person every Saturday morning over breakfast.

In 2008, Proud American Veteran (PAMVET) was started by two WWII veterans getting together for breakfast in Colorado. This breakfast club has continued and still happens every Saturday morning with more and more veterans in attendance.

Now skipping to 2018, the nonprofit organization Veterans Honoring Veterans (VHV) was formed. Together with PAMVET, every Saturday morning at The Golden Corral in Loveland, CO, they honor our living veterans with commemorative statues.

VHV Founder, Brett Bartholomew, told  "Tuned In to NoCo" that there are over 55,000 veterans in Weld and Larimer County alone and it's vital they receive the appreciation they deserve.

"It's so humbling because Just about every veteran really doesn't get a welcome home thank you or a pat on the back...this is the way we say thank you for standing up, raising your hand...and agreeing to do whatever was asked of you to take care of our nation and give us the freedom we have today."

Bartholomew says if a veteran can't make the breakfast that's okay, they will bring or send the statue to them.

"Our theme or our mission is to get every veteran that we can in Northern Colorado. Some of our veterans are homebound, some are in a nursing home, some are in facilities, some are just at home — we will take that statue to that veteran, wherever that veteran is."

VHV's passion is to give thanks, and Bartholomew says they truly want to make every veteran feel warm and appreciated.

"I visited a 100-year-old female veteran who was a nurse in the Navy right over here at the Columbine just a couple of weeks ago and she had her 100th birthday and I gave her a statue. What was really cute about this was when she saw it she cried...she carried it with her the entire day...she was a beautiful young lady."

With a different statue design for each military branch and over 450 statues presented thus far, VHV is out to honor every veteran and wants you to know that you can purchase and send these beautifully designed statues to anyone you know that has served.
