You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who is enjoying the pandemic...that is, unless animals could talk.

Our furry friends have been relishing in the extra downtime with their humans — and that includes the animals at the Humane Society of Weld County.

"We have actually seen...a real spike in adoptions during COVID mostly, in part, due to a lot of the workforce being home," said Sarah Witherell, Interim Executive Director at the Humane Society of Weld County, in our "Tuned In to NoCo" interview. "...a real benefit in this challenging time is that we've done a lot of placements and a lot of placements quicker than I think we would do so normally."

In spite of this spike, the organization still has dogs and cats — and even two rats — who are in need of loving homes.

Thankfully, the adoption process for these critters is fairly easy. After perusing animals on the website, adopters can meet their potential pets in-person in a COVID-safe environment at the humane society.

For those who still want an immersive experience without the commitment of adoption, the organization offers a wide variety of volunteer and donation opportunities.

"We would just really like to thank the community for their support during COVID and for utilizing us as a resource to adopt," said Witherell. "It's a huge help to have the community at large involved and supporting us and enabling us to do what we do in caring for our animals."
