BREAKING: Shooting Threat Against Fort Collins Schools, Increased Police Presence
Fort Collins Police have increased their presence and awareness of a shooting threat made on social media late last night (Sept. 2) for today, Sept. 3.
The threat was made about "Fort Collins schools" in general, and officers have been investigating since they were made aware of the post.
As officers looked into the threat, they found that the threat and the source it came from are too vague to gather enough information. Therefore, police have decided to take certain protocols today (Sept.3) in Fort Collins schools to mitigate and monitor the threat.
School resource officers will have a much more profound presence in the halls today as a precaution. There will also be additional patrol officers near schools in areas they've been assigned.
As police have upped their presence at the schools, officers are continually investigating the threat and who made it. As this is an active investigation with little current information, people with any information are asked to report directly to their School Resource Officer or contact SRO Cpl. Keith Maynard at (970)-224-6035.
Reports can also be made through Safe2Tell at 1-877-542-7233.
