Colorado Town Named One Of The Best Places To Travel In 2024

As you may already know, Colorado has tons of fantastic towns and spots that offer something for almost anybody. Whether you’re into skiing, hiking, or drinking beer, there’s something for you to do in Colorado.

According to Travel Lemming, one town stands above the rest when it comes to the best places to visit in Colorado. They recently created a ranking that showcased the 50 best places to travel in 2024, and a Colorado favorite made it onto the list.

That’s right, the popular ski town made it onto the list as Colorado’s only entry. It was able to sneak on to the list at 41st. 

They cited a couple of different reasons for Steamboat's inclusion. For one, they obviously had to mention its status as a place full of elite skiing. Of course you have the Steamboat Ski Resort, but they also brought up Howelsen Hill as well, the oldest ski area in the United States. 

They also cite the town as a place where athletes, artists, and artisans all come together to create a cultural hotspot right in the middle of the Rockies.

What Are Some Things I Can Do In Steamboat Springs That Aren’t Skiing? 

That’s a great question. For wintertime activities, you can head out on fat bikes through the snow, take a sleigh ride, go ice skating, dog sledding, and tubing amongst other things. You can also head to the numerous natural hot springs in the area to warm yourself up. 

However, if you’re looking to try something different and are maybe not used to driving in the snow, you can check out the Bridgestone Winter Driving School. It’s the only driving school of its kind, and has tracks specifically designed to train you on driving in winter conditions.

What Can You Do at Steamboat Springs in the Summer?

As Travel Lemming notes, Steamboat is also a fantastic destination for a summer vacation. It really is a great place to connect with nature in many ways but there’s also a lot of options for things to do in town. 

You can obviously head out on trails like Fish Creek Falls and Fish Creek Falls Overlook, hit up the local fishing spots, go kayaking, or hunting. There’s also plenty of places to go camping in the backcountry. 

In town, you can visit many of the museums or tours if you’re interested in the town’s history. You can also do fun recreational activities like go mini golfing or play tennis. You can also take a Gondola ride up the mountain to enjoy the view. 

What Towns Should Have Been On Travel Lemming’s List? 

While Steamboat definitely deserves a spot on Travel Lemming’s list, there are plenty of places in Colorado that also can fit in as well. 

Another great ski town that was recently ranked as one of the coziest in the nation is Breckenridge. Of course it is close to a ton of great ski resorts in the area, like Breckenridge Ski Resort, Copper Mountain, Keystone Mountain, Arapahoe Basin, and Loveland Ski Area. There’s also plenty to do outside of just skiing as well along with great summer activities. 

Ouray is a fantastic mountain town to visit in the summer, and is commonly called ‘The Little Switzerland of America’. Of course there’s plenty of winter activities, but there is also a ton to do in summer as well. Plus, the town has a ton of character that makes it a great pick to visit in 2024.
