There are over 300 players involved with Denver's Gay & Lesbian Flag Football League, one of the largest in the United States.

I can't say that I knew the league existed until one of the Denver league's captains was featured during the 2022 NFL Draft, when Arizona made the 87th pick. I thought others might have been surprised as well, so I thought I'd write up a story about the DGLFFL.

Established in 2008. the league consists of 7-on-7 flag football.

The league's Mission Statement:

..to foster community through sport and to promote positive social and athletic enjoyment of flag football among the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and straight allies living in the greater Denver area.

The Denver Gay & Lesbian Flag Football League (DGLFFL) plays a 9-week schedule that includes pre-season and playoff action.

The league's creed:

The DGLFFL is a vibrant community of sport, diversity, fun and friendship. Through football, the league empowers high moral quality through healthy athletic competition. It is the main goal of the league to teach its players how to handle situations with class and good sportsmanship
