A stabbing on the 2100 block of Bronson Street put three Fort Collins schools briefly on "secure status" on Thursday (Jan. 14).

A 74-year-old male allegedly stabbed a 65-year-old female victim, who was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

When authorities arrived on the scene around 10 a.m., the suspect refused to exit the home. A SWAT team was brought in for the situation.

Around 12:45 p.m. officers entered the home and were able to safely contact the man. The suspect was transported to an area hospital for evaluation after the incident.

"I'm grateful for the work of our first responder partners who helped provide care for all involved in this incident," said FCPS Assistant Chief Kristy Volesky in a press release about the incident.

"I also appreciate the efforts of our Special Weapons and Tactics team, who responded to help reach a safe resolution. The mission of SWAT is to save lives, and this is evident in their approach to situations like this."

During "secure status" at a Poudre School District building, activities continue as normal inside the building, but all exterior doors remain locked and there is no outside building access.
