Greeley Philharmonic Announces Exciting Collaboration for First Concert in 18 Months
After 18 months, the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra (GPO) is coming back, and they're doing it with a bang.
The GPO will be collaborating with The Burroughs, a local favorite band, to cross "Sweaty Soul" with the orchestra. The Burroughs will be at full strength on stage with the GPO with all nine members of the band performing their most popular hits.
This is the first time The Burroughs will be doing a collaborative concert like this, and it's also the kick-off event for the Greely Philharmonic's 2021-22 performance season. The concert will take place Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
After a long 18 months and seeing things slowly open around the county, this one was especially long-awaited.
The Burroughs, formed in 2013, have found a way to take a modern twist to classic soul sounds. As far as the Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra goes, it's made up of full-time musicians from all over Colorado and was established in 1911.
According to a release from the City of Greeley, the orchestra is sponsored in the fall of 2021 by Colorado Creative Industries, UCHealth, Banner Health, and the Women's Clinic of Northern Colorado.
The Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra performs at the Union Colony Civic Center, which also showcases Broadway musicals, other varieties of concerts, local performances, comedy shows, and so much more.
The Civic Center's lineup of shows for Spring of 2022 has not been announced yet, but information and scheduling are always available on their website.
