The Galaxy Cookies Fundraiser to benefit Cookies for Kids Cancer is happening September 4 and 5 from 10am-2pm at 4195 Lyric Falls Court in Loveland, Colorado.

"Tuned In to NoCo" got the down-low of what to expect from the baker herself, Daniela Ortiz, her mom, Jill Bernadino and the Cookies for Kids Cancer Executive Director Gretchen Holt-Witt.

Ortiz says this year they will have 10 different types of cookies you can choose from, including a special cookie for your pet, and Bernadino wants everyone to know that everything they raise will go towards kids' cancer.

"When people donate, sometimes they are skeptical. Especially when they come to our house in our front yard for the bake sale and they are thinking of leaving cash. It's so important to know that she does not get one penny for this. Every single penny goes straight to Cookies for Kids Cancer.

Ortiz says she loves to bake. So, when she heard about Cookies for Kids Cancer she knew she had to get involved and hopes to reach her new fundraising goal before graduation.

"Last October we met with Gretchen and she challenged me to raise $100,000 cumulatively by the time I graduate high school and last year we raised $23,000 and we baked 56 dozen cookies. So we are getting there."

This year, Ortiz says they will be baking 50 dozen cookies and her goal is to raise $18,000.

Cookies for Kids Cancer will be celebrating its 15-year anniversary in December and Holt-Witt says many people don't know how prevalent kids' cancer is in the U.S.

"Cancer is the number one disease killer of kids in the U.S. It kills more children than asthma, AIDS, MS and MD combined, and yet it receives one of the smallest slices of funding. So, what Daniela and Jill are doing is pretty incredible — every little bit helps."
