Investigation Underway After Man Is Struck By Train In Loveland
A man was left with serious injuries and has since been hospitalized after being struck by a train in North Loveland over the weekend.
As per the Loveland Reporter-Herald, officials say the man was hit by a train on Sunday (Sept. 12) near the 37th Street BNSF Railway crossing in Loveland.
Loveland’s Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA) was dispatched at 5:39 p.m. Sunday evening, according to LFRA division chief Greg Ward; the northbound train was stopped as a result of the collision between the train and the victim.
Shortly after, the injured man, whose identity has not yet been made available to the public, was transported to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies.
37th Street in Loveland was closed on Sunday evening as police investigated the incident, according to Loveland Fire Rescue Authority captain Kevin Hessler.
Hessler said investigators from BNSF Railway were also expected to visit the scene, as per reports from the Loveland Reporter-Herald.
Loveland Police Department Sgt. Ryan Ertman confirmed that a man was, in fact, struck by a train on Sunday (Sept. 12) and was left critically injured near the crossing.
On Sunday night, police spokesman Tom Hacker said the department was still investigating how and why the unidentified man ended up in the path of the train.
There were no further updates regarding the man's condition or his identity as of Monday morning (Sept. 13).
