It’s not too Late to Sign Up for Summer Camps With the Salvation Army
The Fort Collins Salvation Army still has spots open for summer camps this year! Salvation Army Corp Officer and Pastor, Captain Genesis Apuan, spoke with "Tuned In to NoCo" about the camps and how you can sign up.
"Right now, we have camps going on at High Peak Camp. This is a little south of Lily Lake...if you've been up there it's very beautiful. The camps will go on through August, and we still have a few open spots. So, you can head to our website or call 970-207-4472 to register."
Apuan says they are also hosting their annual Back to School Carnival August 6, at 3901 S Mason Street in Fort Collins. He says this event helps give every kid the tools they need to succeed in school, and it's sure to be a lot of fun.
"So, If your child needs a backpack and you can't afford one or need help getting one — come join us or call us and we'll be able to set your child up with a backpack full of supplies. There's also gonna be games, prizes and the Fort Collins Police Department will be out there."
The pandemic hit every business differently, and Apuan says, for them, it shed even more light on how important the Salvation Army is to our community.
"We've seen a lot more people come in for assistance, and what is different, during the pandemic, is that it was the first time these people had ever navigated social services, because they've never been in that situation before. So, during the pandemic we saw new faces and tried to help people find assistance for rentals, clothing and food."
