Book a Stay on the Creepy 13th Floor of Colorado’s Curtis Hotel

Due to the superstitions and phobias surrounding the number 13 in Western culture, many people refuse to stay on the 13th floor of a hotel. Because of this, high-rise hotels will often skip the 13th floor altogether and go straight from the 12th to the 14th floor.

However, some hotels opt to embrace the spooky superstitions and instead market the 13th floor as a unique experience for visitors.

The Curtis Hotel in Denver, Colorado, is one of those places.

The boutique downtown establishment is known for having hyper-themed guest rooms, suites, and floors, ranging from sports and superheroes to music, sci-fi, Barbie, and beyond.

Guests daring enough to book a stay on the 13th floor are greeted with a ghost-themed experience, creepy enough to give anyone goosebumps.

Upon exiting the elevator, travelers are transported into a Transylvanian-like setting. Moody lighting, sinister artwork, and paranormal props add to the ambiance of the frightening floor.

The hallway of the 13th floor is filled with freaky pictures, posters, and photos, featuring frames of familiar characters like Frankenstein and Carol Anne Freeling from the movie Poltergeist.

At the other end of the hall, the twins from The Shining chillingly stare into the souls of those walking by.

But fear not, the hyper-themed suite on the 13th floor protects guests from the paranormal. The two-person space is decorated with a Ghostbusters-inspired design, complete with “Slimer Green” flooring, "No-Ghost" sign curtains, and a photo of the famous Ectomobile above the bed. Other items, such as skulls, a bedside ghost-hunting book, and green and white decor also fill the room. Vigo the Carpathian keeps watch in the bathroom too.
