This Colorado City Had the Highest Average Rent Increase in the Nation in 2024
It stinks when you go to re-sign your rental agreement for the year and your rent goes up. Rental price increases are just a part of life here in Colorado. I am a renter and I can not recall a time when my rent has not gone up.
Many of us pay rent and renew our leases until we are priced out. It is a sad reality. In Northern Colorado. Rent is rising dramatically and many people are finding roommates or new homes. One Northern Coloradan said their rent went up over $600 in just three years.
Believe it or not, a Northern Colorado city was not on Cinch Home Services list of cities with the biggest rent increases. However, one Colorado city made the top ten list.
This Colorado Town Has Had Highest Rent Increase
The city of Edwards had the most dramatic change in rental prices in the past year. Cinch Home Services analyzed data from Zillow. Edwards, Colorado has had the sixth-highest change in rental prices in the past year.
The data shows that Edwards average rental cost went up by 15 percent. On average, a resident of Edwards is paying $583 more for rent than they did just one year ago.
In 2023, the average monthly rent was $3,882.07 and now it is $4,465.08.
The average monthly rent in Fort Collins is $2,000 and the average monthly rent in Denver is $2,100, according to Zillow.
Edwards, Colorado: Why So Expensive?
Edwards is a mountain town right by Vail. One major reason Edwards is so expensive is its incredible location. Additionally, the pandemic drove up the housing market and many remote workers moved to the city.
