It is always sad to see a restaurant close in Northern Colorado. Customers are upset that they can't have some of their favorite food anymore, or they have to find a new location to visit if it is a chain. Many places have been closing recently, and they typically do so due to underperformance, perhaps for upgrades, or because a chain has decided to close select locations. Sometimes places are forced to close for reasons that are unexpected, and this recently happened to a fast food location in the area. A fast food chain location in Northern Colorado may have closed for good without anyone realizing it, as signs point towards it not reopening ever.

If you search the McDonald's located at 1273 Grand Market Ave in Berthoud, Google will tell you that it is currently open, depending on what time of day you search it, but anyone who has driven by knows this is not the case. For months, the store has been closed, claiming the location is closed for maintenance. The store was set to reopen earlier this summer, but that never happened. Since then, many have been asking when the location will open, but recently some things changed that point towards the store never opening again. As seen in the pictures above, the 'M' logo that represents McDonald's has been removed from the building, but that isn't the only sign pointing towards permanent closure.

While signs being removed is not a good sign, the menus for the drive-thru have also been taken down, and if you look in the pictures above, you will notice all the equipment in the kitchen has been removed as well. The windows for the drive-thru have been boarded up, and it looks like the building will not be used anytime soon. This should not be too surprising, though, as Taco Bell in the same parking lot recently was forced to close by the city of Berthoud due to the foundation not being safe. While Taco Bell states they are temporarily closed, McDonald's seems to have decided to go a different route.

Will the building be knocked down? Will McDonald's or something else move in eventually? If the store is unsafe to be occupied, how long until the Maverik, the Taco Bell, and other stores in the area close permanently as well? We have reached out to McDonald's to confirm a permanent closure. When we hear back from them, this story will be updated to confirm or deny this speculation.
