Millions of Coloradans receive robocalls every single day. The robocalls are getting so bad that many of us do not answer our phones at all.

More often than not, when I feel my phone vibrating, my automatic response is to silence it. I have ignored countless calls from family members, friends, and co-workers because I assumed it was another stupid spam call.

We all thought there would be a solution for robocalls by now. Robocalls have been an issue across the nation since 1991. The Federal Communications Commission officially took its first steps against robocalls that year. Flash forward to 2023, and you and I can both roll our eyes and be annoyed that there has not really been a true solution to the problem.

Americans received over 4.6 billion robocalls last month, which happens to be an 8% increase from the month before.

Coloradans received nearly 750 million robocalls in September 2023, and each Coloradan received 22.3 robocalls during that month.

Robocalls are out of control. Here is what you can do to fight it.

You might already do this, but if you do not recognize the phone number that is calling you, do not pick up the phone. If it is important, they will leave a voicemail or send you a text.

Many cell phone providers offer services that will filter your calls automatically for you. Check with your provider and see if there is a solution. There are also apps that you can download on your phone.
