
Most Coloradans Would Rather Vacation in Colorado Than Leave
One of the things I look forward to the most is going on vacation and exploring somewhere I have never been, trying the local food, and living like a local, even if it is for just a short amount of time.
My wife and I have taken trips to places we've always wanted to visit and activities we've always wanted to do. There have been plenty of trips where we haven't even left the state, and sometimes, those reveal things we've never even known about the great state of Colorado.
When you decide to vacation within the borders of your own state, that is what is known as a "staycation". These staycations can be a fun way to explore parts of your state that you have always wanted to visit, but never really had the time on a long weekend to do so.
Millions Visit Colorado Every Year, Even Residents
Millions of tourists come every year to the state of Colorado for one reason or another. Some come to see a Denver Broncos game, others come for a concert at Red Rocks, and a lot come to see the natural beauty of Colorado with their own eyes.

Our state has a lot to offer and is one of the most desirable destinations in the United States. So it begs the question, how many Coloradans prefer to just stay within the borders of Colorado?
Over Half of Coloradans Prefer Staycations
According to RoveLab, quite a few. A recent study shows that 53.37 percent of Coloradans who participated in the survey would rather stay, or do stay in the state of Colorado, when it comes to vacations.
Colorado Ranks 8th in the Nation for Staycations
Colorado ranked eighth on the list of states that prefer staycations over destination vacations. What is probably the most surprising from this list is the number one staycationing spot. Nearly 75 percent of North Dakota residents chose to staycation between 2020 and 2024.
