Beloved Greeley Restaurant Returns as Great Food Truck
Colorado restaurants do have a way of coming and going; it's tough to keep things going, year after year. That's why it's great when you hear that a spot in Greeley has risen from the ashes to please its customers again.
Why Did Fat Albert's in Greeley, Colorado Close?
In August of 2024, Greeley's beloved Fat Albert's closed after 42 years of serving up great dishes to folks who came not only from Greeley but from all across Northern Colorado. The decision wasn't an easy one but, as they stated:
Despite our best efforts to navigate the challenges we’ve faced, we’ve decided that closing is the most responsible path forward for us and for our family. This decision will allow us to refocus our energy on new opportunities and ensure that our team is taken care of.
Later in 2024, people were able to get a Fat Albert's pie for the holidays, as they were bringing some to Crabtree Brewing in Greeley. It would appear that "little experiment" with just pies inspired a bigger plan. Sue Albert's son, John, began operating a food truck at Crabtree Brewing in early 2025, keeping the family tradition (and those delicious Monte Cristo sandwiches) continuing for a new generation.

Fat Albert's is at Crabtree every Tuesday and Wednesday and alternating weekends. It does seem like a classic fit, as food trucks are at craft breweries all the time.
