Former Broncos QB Arrested for DUI and Weapons In Nashville Area
You never like to see a headline that ANYONE has been arrested for DUI or a weapons charge, but especially when it's someone that's supposed to be a role model in their community.
Such is the case for a former Denver Broncos quarterback who was arrested Thursday evening in Franklin, Tennessee, near the city of Nashville.
Broncos QB Jay Cutler, 41, was arrested for driving under the influence, possession of a handgun while under the influence and failure to exercise due care during a collision, after police responded to a report of a minor accident around 5 PM.
He apparently refused sobriety tests after police detected alcohol on his breath and noted that he was slurring his speech while speaking with officers on the scene. They ultimately took him to the local hospital for a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content, and then found two weapons in his car, one of them loaded.
He was then booked in the county jail and later released after posting $5,000 bail.
Cutler was drafted by head coach Mike Shanahan way back in 2006 and took over the starting QB job from Jake Plummer during week 13 of his rookie season. He was widely expected to be the next John Elway-like "franchise QB" for the Broncos, until Shanahan was fired after the 2008 season and new head coach (and disaster) Josh McDaniels decided to trade Cutler away to the Chicago Bears before ever even coaching him in a single game.
Cutler then went on to play 9 seasons in Chicago before wrapping his career with a single season as a Miami Dolphin. He retired after the 2017 season.
