After 10 Years, Popular Hot Sauce Maker In Colorado Sadly Closing Up For Good
It's just such a sad story, where a businessperson in Colorado has a dream, it succeeds, and then the bottom falls out.
When you consider that there a lot of people, not only in Colorado, but across the country and world, that enjoy hot sauce, this just seems crazy. But, sometimes, when things go south, they go very south.

Colorado Hot Sauce Maker Shutting Down
I, myself, am not a huge fan of hot sauces; I don't care for things too spicy. Though, I have enjoyed episodes of the sensation, "Hot Ones," where stars are interviewed while trying out different hotter and hotter hot sauces.

A hot sauce operation based in Colorado since 2014, has reached the end of the line after seeing huge success before the pandemic hit. According to the Denver Post, Merf's Condiments will cease operations by early 2025.
I can't imagine how heart-breaking it must be, to go from being in almost 1,000 restaurants and 400 stores, to closing, all in a matter of a couple of years. So much hard work goes into running any business; to see it take off and then collapse, is terribly sad.

According to the Denver Post, a combination of supply costs tripling, demand plummeting and potential tariffs coming after January 20, 2025, there's no way to keep Merf's operating. They'll officially close up once their on-hand inventory is gone.
