Lundeen Studios Create Larger-Than-Life Woman Golfer for Scheels
Lundeen Sculpture, founded by George Lundeen and his younger brother Mark Lundeen, has been operating in Downtown Loveland at the corner of 4th Street and Jefferson Avenue for decades. George, Mark, other family members, and staff crafters, have created thousands of pieces over the years, including '"Down the Middle."
How Long Has 'Down the Middle' Been Made by Lundeen Sculpture?
It looks like they have been creating "Down the Middle" since around 2008. I spoke to George Lundeen, and he said they've done many of them. I was surprised to have gotten George, himself, on the phone when I called. The man is a Loveland legend.

I had called because I noticed what looked like half of a woman in a skirt behind their studio as I was walking in Downtown Loveland. It even appeared, to me, that the woman was wearing garters. I thought perhaps it was going to be a "flapper," from the 1920s, but George set me straight: "Those are weld markings, not garters..."

The "Down the Middle" woman golfer that they were creating in the spring of 2026, which I saw, was a 'monument-sized' production (23+ feet tall) destined to be outside of a huge 300,000 square-foot Scheels set to open at the end of August in the Austin area. The Johnstown Scheels has one of the "Life-Sized" versions of "Down the Middle."
