Popular Colorado Outdoors Destination Has ‘Hidden’ Caves

Crested Butte, Colorado can be considered a quintessential picturesque mountain town. While most well-known for its ski resort, Crested Butte is also notable for being surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery that the state has to offer.

One popular area frequented by many who are looking to get up close and personal with Mother Nature is known as the Cement Creek Campground and while this destination is fairly well-known, not everyone is aware of the caves.

Colorado's "Hidden" Cement Creek Caves

Unlike the cave systems you'll find in places like Glenwood Springs and Fulford, the caves on the Cement Creek Campground are largely above ground.

There are a total of three different caves located atop a fairly large hill with a total of 500 feet of passage between them.

While the Cement Creek Campground is accessible via ATV, motorcycle, or bicycle, because of where the caves are located, visitors are only able to reach them by foot.

Cement Creek is a fairly popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts to set up camp, boasting a total of 13 first-come-first-served campsites. It's here that campers are known to enjoy fishing, hiking, and even spelunking on some of the larger rocks and cliffs.

However, the caves themselves take a little more exploring off the beaten path to come across, giving them the reputation of being "hidden."
