Colorado Pizza Joint Places in Top 10 at International Pizza Expo

Colorado can mark another in the "winner" column for a pizza that's square, but delicious, having beat out 4 4other competitors. There's nothing like a great pizza, except for an "Award Winning" pizza.

This pizza joint wasn't even a year-old when it won the prize at the 39th Annual International Pizza Expo that took place in Las Vegas, March 19-21, 2023. You have to wonder how many pepperonis were used at the huge event.

Urban Field Pizza & Market open in south Longmont, Colorado, in May of 2022. Less than a year after that, they competed at the International Pizza Expo; they competed, and they won. The business' Creative Director and Chef, Nick Swanson, was smiling from ear to ear after having coming in within the top 10 in his first year of competing for Urban Field.

If you look closely, you'll see that Nick's winning entry was in the Square Pizza division. He's now calling that pie the "Lucky 7," because that's where the pizza landed - #7.

WHAT KIND OF PIZZA PIE IS 'THE LUCKY 7?'

According to the Longmont Leader, Nick took one of the pizza's they feature at Urban Field, "The Italiano," and combined it with a carbonara dish. That already sounds delicious, to me. He made a pan pizza with a very tasty-sounding list of additional ingredients.

• Caramelized onion cream
• Parmesan
• Fontina
• Posciutto di parma
• Arugula
• Confit garlic
• Spiced truffle oil
•  Lemon zest
• Cured egg yolk

It certainly looks like it tastes great. Though the "Lucky 7" is not currently on the Urban Field menu, Nick hopes to bring it back, soon.
