In June of 2021, Comet Chicken announced they would be spending $1 million to open up in Downtown Loveland. It was money well spent.

The corner of 5th and Cleveland in Downtown Loveland is definitely seeing a lot of activity, with a new Honky Tonk and a new brewery opening, just to name a couple of things.  At the northwest corner, you'll now find Comet Chicken, out of Fort Collins.

This spot was most-recently slated to be Miss Daisy's Blues & BBQ in 2018, an endeavor by Chef Clay of Betta Gumbo; Miss Daisy's never really got passed the demo'ing of the spot. When I heard that Comet Chicken had opened, I was eager to check it out.

Comet Chicken, right next to Verboten Brewing, is owned by the people that also own Austin's, The Moot House and Big Al's Burgers & Shakes, which are all great places in Fort Collins. This is the company's first launch in Loveland.

I found that they make great use of the space; it's not cramped and it's not wide open. There's plenty of seating (it was great to see more than a few people in there when I stopped in on Sunday afternoon.) The exposed-brick decor along with the lights and the art on the walls all adds to the great ambience. They also have two garage doors that provide even more seating when the weather is nice.

I grabbed a sandwich combo; it is fun pouting a soda from a 'tap handle' at their fountain. I grabbed a seat at one of the cool 'community' tables they have. Two skylights provide a lot of light. I looked around, and really took it in: 'This place is cool.' I thought to myself. I even ran into an old high school friend, there with his family to check out Comet Chicken.

I'm sure they're going to do great. Take a look inside:
