Pleased to ‘Mead’ You: Loveland Welcomes New Meadery to Downtown

If you've been looking for an alternative when it comes to going out in Downtown Loveland, take a stroll along Washington between 4th and 5th Streets.

MeadKrieger Meadery and Wine Cellar has landed their Norse ways to bring people together. It's great to see this location finally get some "life" to it, after just sitting empty for many years.

MeadKrieger Meadery and Wine Cellar is right along Washington Avenue and what's called Sweetheart Alley (between 4th an 5th streets.) The red awning location had been unoccupied for years before the meadery came along.

There used to be a meadery in Downtown Loveland, Laughing Leprechaun, on Railroad Avenue, north of 4th Street, west of the railroad tracks. MeadKrieger lays on roughly the same line along Sweetheart Alley as Laughing Leprechaun did; it's just several blocks to the east.

Mead (fermented honey) is a great option for those looking for gluten-free refreshment. The gang behind MeadKrieger Old Norse Mead have a great passion for mead and wine, and have been producing for a few years. In late January of 2023, they opened their taproom for people to enjoy the fruits of their labor, along with small plates.

I stopped in during their grand opening weekend, and was surprised to see so many people. Apparently, mead is gaining in its popularity, even in Downtown Loveland. I had a glass of their 'traditional' mead. I was leery about giving it a shot, I'd never had mead before. It was tasty.

They carry other meaderies products as well, as it's all about "community" for MeadKrieger. You can have a glass, or get a bottle for you and your friends.
