Morgan Creek Fire Now At 7,049 Acres, Still Slightly Contained
Crews at the Morgan Creek Fire have been able to keep it at 8% containment and have continued to run a Type 3 Incident Management Organization. However, the wildfire has officially passed 7,000 acres.
Strategy surrounding the Morgan Creek Fire shifted from the Rocky Mountain Team Black Incident Management Team to the Type 3 Incident Management Organization on July 27. The fire remains a full suppression fire.
In an update from Jeramy Dietz, Incident Commander, crews are continuing to hold and patrol containment lines in all divisions. 209 personnel are on the fire and a hose line has been plumbed to protect surrounding historical stuctures. While they've put a pause on them, if conditions improve, crews will resume firing operations to clear any fuel in the wildfire's path.
A forest closure is still in effect in the area of the fire, including the Seedhouse recreation corridor and Seedhouse Road. A portion of the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness is closed, and other roads and trails remain closed to entry for the safety of emergency crews.
