Murdoch’s to Take Over Former JCPenney Store in Fort Collins Next Month
In 2020, JCPenney said goodbye to Fort Collins amidst COVID-19 pandemic struggles. Rumors about what could come to 135 Bockman Dr. have swirled ever since, but the location remained vacant — until now, that is.
Murdoch's Ranch & Home Supply has announced that it will open its first Choice City location in the former JCPenney next month.
According to a news release from the store's website, the chain will have a soft opening on Tuesday, February 21, giving Fort Collins residents access to everything from clothing to sporting goods to baby chickens and firearms.
"Head on over and see for yourself that you can count on us as your go-to for the equipment and supplies you need for your home, ranch, and everything in between," reads the release. "On top of that, we are proud to staff friendly, honest people who are genuinely interested in helping you find what you need."
The Coloradoan reports that the Fort Collins locale will have an official grand opening on March 24 and 25. Murdoch's plans to debut another Northern Colorado location in Johnstown this August.

The Fort Collins and Johnstown stores will give Murdoch's 15 locations in the Centennial State. There are currently open shops in Castle Rock, Clifton, Craig, Fort Morgan, Fraser, Greeley, Littleton, Longmont, Montrose, Parker, Salida, Silverthorne, and Westminster.
In the release, Murdoch's noted that the chain is a "perfect fit for Fort Collins." See more local businesses that have recently come to the Choice City in the gallery below.
