RamStrength is hosting a .5k at New Belgium Brewery this Thursday, October 6. They invite everyone young and old to come out and enjoy face painting, Kona ice, prizes, games, food trucks and more. All the proceeds will go towards individuals and families that are currently or have been affected by cancer.

"Tuned In to NoCo" was able to speak with the RamStrength Executive Director, Michelle Boyle, about the event. Boyle says this .5k will be such a great way for the community to band together, have fun and help fight cancer.

"This is just a fun way to get together, have a couple of beers after work, let your kids have some fun with the face painter, the Kona ice —  there is just so much to do at New Belgium anyway, I think it will be a great evening. Registration starts at 4pm on Thursday. The race starts at 5:30pm. "

Boyle says they wanted to do something different than the normal 5k. So, they decided to shorten it and make an event the whole family could enjoy.

"It will be a .5k just around the New Belgium...just something different from a normal 5k. We'll have someone leading stretches and water stations. It just should be a lot of fun for the whole family."

Tickets are just $15 for adults and kids 12 and under are free. Adults will also receive two drink coupons when they enter. Boyle says, every dime they raise will go directly towards whoever needs it in our community.

"There is no age restriction and there is no cancer restriction. We help all kinds of cancer patients. So, whether it's breast, thyroid, lymphoma, pancreatic —  whatever the cancer maybe we are here for you."

Since 2008, RamStrength has helped over two thousand individuals and families dealing with cancer and Boyle says, that these individuals/families are more than just cancer fighters to her, they are her heroes.

"They inspire me, they inspire our board, our volunteers, because just the inner strength that it takes to get through cancer plus to take care of a family or to keep up with classes — it's just so inspirational."

RamStrength is a local non-profit that helps assist all types of cancer patients and survivors financially. They help individuals, families and Colorado State University students get the financial help and support they need to succeed.
