6 Fun Things to Do With Mom on Mother’s Day Weekend in Estes Park

The second Sunday of May is sneaking up on us quickly, and with it comes the day to celebrate Moms. She brought you into this world, the least you could do is take her up to Estes.

She's given you so much in your life, you should do something nice for your Mom. Estes Park is beautiful all year; early May is no exception. Pick her up and take her up there for Mother's Day itself, or include Saturday May 7 as well, with this list of ideas.

5 Fun Things That Your Mom Might Like In Estes, May 7-8, 2022

On Saturday, May 7, 2022 is the 34th annual Duck Race Festival. The grand prize is a whopping $8,000, as well as the chance at a vacations at Glacier National and Yellowstone National Park. Mom (and you) can "adopt" one duck or several ducks, or just enjoy the day that includes a 5K and live music.

When we think Mother's Day, we think 'Brunch.' I called The Stanley Hotel, and though their Cascades restaurant will not be having that Mother's Day buffet that's such a hit, the hotel has a new spot to take Mom. Brunch & Co will be having Mother's Day specials. Their signature dishes are 'The Shining,' but with food. Fun.

Of course, The Taffy Shop. They've been around 'forever,' and your Mom loves their taffy. Be sure to go in a check out the big mural in the back that's on a fence that was disassembled and moved from the mid-west. Fun.

Shop the big Spring Sidewalk Sale that they'll be having all weekend. Mom always likes finding a great price on something 'neat.'

Let Mom have a little fun with a little wine. She'll relax with a glass, you'll smile back as she gives you that 'Now, this is what I'm talking about' gaze. Snowy Peaks Winery will be open, and they have a great backyard.

For the adventurous Mom, Estes Park highly recommend checking out the Sky Pond hike, inside of Rocky Mountain National Park. It's definitely not easy, but it's worth the 5+ hour out-and-back hike. It's known for it's spectacular views, waterfalls and fun stream crossings. Saturday of Mother's Day weekend will have the best weather for Mom to take this on.
