Third Baseman Kris Bryant Signs 7-Year Contract with the Rockies

Colorado Rockies fans were pretty upset when beloved third baseman Nolan Arenado, was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals prior to the season last year.

It's now been announced that the Rockies have a brand new third baseman joining the roster just in time for the start of the 2022 season, who just so happens to be quite an all-star himself.

Thirty-year-old Kris Bryant officially signed a deal with the team late Wednesday (March 16). Bryant was a free agent after playing for the San Francisco Giants last year. Prior to that, he played for the Chicago Cubs where he won the World Series.

According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the agreement between Bryant and the Rockies involves a 7-year, $182-million contract. This is not the first time the team has expressed interest in signing Bryant, it was actually discussed when the Arenado trade took place, however this time the plan actually panned out.

Bryant made his major league debut in 2015 and has demonstrated his talents on the field in many different ways since. Not only does the Nevada native shine at third base, but he can also play in the outfield and as a first baseman. In addition to being a World Series champ, Bryant is a 3-time MLB All-Star and has earned countless other awards including National League Most Valuable Player and National League Rookie of the Year.

Now that an official start date has finally been announced for the MLB, fans can really get excited to watch Bryant and the rest of the Blake Street Bombers at Coors Field next month.
