NoCo's Best is all about finding the best of the best in local food. Each of the top three spots below has been voted as the best by you, the people of Northern Colorado. Because who knows NoCo better than the people who actually live here?

Once again, it’s that magical time of year when the NoCo community bands together to answer the most pressing question of the summer: Where to get the best food on the Front Range. From breakfast nooks to sandwich boutiques, we were excited to see your favorite places to grab a bite and try them ourselves. Now, we’ve sent our most sophisticated (mostly) judges to rank your favorite eateries and the winners are set to be announced at 2022’s Taste of Fort Collins.

Here are the top 3 sandwich restaurants in Northern Colorado:

  1. Snack Attack Specialty Sandwiches & Brews

Snack Attack, which you can find just off College at Stuart St., had a clean and casual ambiance that’s perfect for Fort Collins’ college-town vibe. While there, we ordered the Chicken Up-In-Da Club sandwich and were served a hot, savory sandwich with crispy grilled chicken and crunchy on the outside, yet soft on the inside bread. There wasn’t a lot of sauce on the sandwich, but the bread texture was delicious and the chicken was well-spiced.

  1. Cheba Hut “Toasted” Subs

Cheba Hut is just like I remember it from my college days: Colorful and full of life. The lovely folks at the counter suggested we try two of their most popular sandwiches, the Kali Mist and the White Widow. Both sandwiches were chock-full of flavor, and the bread was equally so. The White Widow was robust, creamy, and full of chicken, while the Kali Mist had a spicy kick to go with the turkey breast and avocado. Either way, if you hit up Cheba Hut and the rest of their menu is akin to the two dishes we had, you’re sure to have a good time. Just beware, they’ll probably be a bit messy to eat.

  1. Babalu’s Cuban Cafe

Even though I’ve lived in the Fort Collins area for almost seven years, I have to confess I’d never heard of Babalu’s Cuban Café – But hey, good things come to those who wait, and this was certainly true for me in regards to this restaurant. Previously a food truck that roamed the Front Range, Babalu’s served us their classic Cuban sandwich and their Media Noche, each of which was served with traditional Cuban bread. The Media Noche's bread was slightly sweeter than their standard sandwich, which was more savory. Cut in the traditional Cuban style, these sandwiches were neat and delicious with a tangy mustard and perfectly layered meats and condiments. They also stayed together beautifully while we ate, which was really helpful while trying sandwiches on the go.
