What You Need To Know About Colorado’s Best Authentic Buffet
We all love a good buffet. There’s nothing like going to a restaurant, paying a price for admission, and letting yourself dig in on a monstrous amount of food.
Of course, many people tend to associate all-you-can-eat buffets with lower-quality food. With these types of restaurants, you run the risk of having food sit out for long periods of time, cross-contamination, and some serving leftover food from previous days.
However, Mashed.com recently came out with a list of the top all-you-can-eat buffets in every state. Not only has Colorado's pick been a local favorite for some time, but it has consistently served authentic and quality food at a fixed price for over 20 years. With this buffet, there’s no need to worry.
Kathmandu Restaurant in Nederland, Colorado Named the State’s Best Buffet
Kathmandu Restaurant has been an absolute local legend in Nederland since it first opened in 1999.
According to Mashed.com, the restaurant’s focus on Northern Indian and Nepalese food has made it quite the hit with the local population. They even noted that there seems to be fresh naan waiting every time you leave the table.
More than anything, they noted that the restaurant’s quality and dedication to serving authentic Northern Indian and Nepalese dishes have been huge for its popularity. They got so popular that eventually, they opened another restaurant in Boulder, a whole 3000 feet lower in elevation.
Kathmandu’s Authentic and Quality Northern India and Nepalese Dishes Greatly Help Their Success
Kathmandu offers rotating options for their buffet that keep people wanting to come back for more.
At all times, you’ll be able to dig into some great side dishes like fried rice, saag, dal johl, and kheer, which is a rice pudding.
However, their selection of rotating buffet options is what truly keeps people coming back for more. They have a plethora of different chicken dishes, including a classic chicken curry along with tandoori chicken. You can also dig into some chana masala, which is garbanzo bean salad, or get yourself some pakora, which is essentially a vegetable fritter.
It should also be noted that you aren’t just limited to chicken in terms of meats. Kathmandu constantly rolls out different dishes, with people seeming to really enjoy their lamb curry and fish curry.
Package all of these fantastic options together for an all-you-can-eat lunch price of $17.99 and a dinner price of $18.99, and you’ll be in buffet heaven.
Kathmandu Has Been Recognized With Numerous Awards in the Past
Both the original location and Kathmandu II in Boulder have been showered with praise throughout the years.
The original location has won multiple Best of Boulder County awards ever since its inception. It won Best Restaurant Above 8,000 Feet in 2004, which kicked off a reign of dominance in the 2010s where it won Best Nederland Restaurant in 2013, 2014, and 2017. It also won the award for Best Indian Food in 2015 as well.
The second location in Boulder is no slouch either, winning itself the award for Boulder County’s Best New Restaurant in 2016. For an all-you-can-eat buffet, their track record is about as good as it gets in terms of award recognition.
On the other hand, everybody from locals to tourists can’t seem to get enough of this place. People note the great food, large dining room, and genuine hospitality of the employees to create a fantastic dining experience.
Breyer K. on Yelp spoke particularly highly of Kathmandu, saying:
“Genuinely the best food I've had in my life. We travel 2 hours each way to get this when we have the chance”
With such incredibly high praise from across the board, it’s no wonder Kathmandu has been seen nationally as Colorado’s best all-you-can-eat-buffet.
