The state of Colorado is adding extra incentives to up vaccination numbers in the state. What started as $100 Walmart gift cards has grown into certain vaccination sites also offering Chipotle gift cards and Parks and Wildlife vouchers starting August 23, 2021.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced the additions to their Comeback Cash giveaways in a release Friday, Aug. 20 in the evening.

The vouchers are available for anyone getting their first or second dose until vouchers run out. Anyone who is immunocompromised or high risk that is getting their third additional shot is also eligible for one of the three incentives.

Depending on the site, a person may receive either the initial $100 Walmart gift card, a $20 Chipotle gift card, or a $50 Colorado Parks and Wildlife voucher. Keep in mind, the park and wildlife voucher is a one person only voucher. Each site will offer one of the three incentives.

Coloradans can preregister for a vaccine at a gift card stop or they can walk up, both are accommodated. A list of mobile and pop-up vaccination sites is available on the release, as well as the type of incentive offered at each site.

On August 12, 2021, Colorado Governor Jared Polis's office announced that the Comeback Cash giveaway incentives had already been incredibly successful in increasing vaccination numbers in the state. According to the release from the governor's office, there was a 71% vaccination increase at each site that was offering the $100 Walmart gift cards.

Additionally, Polis and his administration is still exploring additional, potential cash, incentives for the younger ages that are eligible for vaccination.
