Another successful Colorado Eagles Fight Cancer weekend is in the books, and so many local cancer warriors were honored and showed the love they deserved. So special.

I've loved being a part of the Colorado Eagles Fight Cancer weekends since becoming their In Arena Host a decade ago. It hit a little closer to home when my dad was diagnosed with cancer shortly after I began working for the Eagles. The way that this amazing organization rallies for its local cancer warriors in Northern Colorado, in conjunction with UCHealth, is truly top-notch. I'm not sure many other clubs even come close to making the impact the Colorado Eagles and UCHealth make during this amazing weekend of Hockey, and unbelievable support for local cancer warriors, of the past and present each year. Did you miss it? Here are just a few of the special things that took place this past weekend.

•  “I Play For” Honoring: The Eagles and UCHealth honored 18 cancer warriors in the “I Play For” Campaign, each player wore the name of a cancer warrior on their helmet during the game.
• Warrior Recognition: Select cancer warriors were recognized throughout the game including, the fan of the game, ceremonial puck drop, fanboni rides, three warriors of the game, and more!
• Black Out Moment – Fans will be encouraged to light up the rink during a timeout in the game, using the lavender “Light Up the Rink” cards from their cup holders with their phone flashlight
• “I Fight For” Cards: Fans created “I Fight For" cards that were posted around the arena during the game and shown on AHLTV.
• Jersey Auction: Authentic Eagles lavender game-worn jerseys were auctioned off with all proceeds benefiting the UCHealth Northern Colorado Foundation Oncology Patient Assistance Fund.

Getting to talk to so many amazing cancer warriors throughout the game was truly heartwarming. And the amount of joy this weekend brought to so many made me so incredibly proud. This moment below about made me ball... So special to honor the biggest cancer warrior in my life.

Even though the weekend is wrapped for the season, Eagles Fight Cancer continues as one of the biggest and most important initiatives for the Colorado Eagles and UCHealth. Their fight and support for local cancer warriors all across Northern Colorado and beyond won't ever stop.
