Following a two-year hiatus, the Renaissance Festival is returning to Colorado.

The COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of last year's event and pushed back this year's original June start date. Thankfully, Denver7 reports that the festival will open in Larkspur on Saturday (July 3).

"Being closed for a year was certainly not good," Jim Paradise, Renaissance Festival Vice President, told the station. "With the way things are going with the pandemic, we felt like the holiday weekend was a perfect time to open things up."

The event will span over eight weekends, hosting 200 vendors and over 250 entertainers, including festival-favorites Acrobatrix. On top of providing hundreds of jobs, the festival will serve as a much-needed boost to Larkspur's tourism sector.

However, a large event means lots of traffic. Event organizers recommend driving west of the festival via Highway 105 to avoid travel delays.

Tickets are available online here. Opening weekend is Children's Weekend, so children ages 12 and under can enjoy family-friendly activities and free entry.

Other themed weekends on the schedule include a Magical Fantasy Weekend (July 10-11), Royal Ale & Art Festival (July 17-18), Wine Revelry (July 31- August 1), and more.

The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 650 Perry Park Ave. in Larkspur.
