For the first time since March 2020, Colorado State Ram fans were back in Moby Arena.

With a crowd of 5,537 fans dressed to white out Moby, the stands were loud with the pent-up athletics excitement after a year of games closed to attendance. The turnout is especially impressive after CSU Volleyball's first slated game on Friday, Aug. 27 was canceled due to COVID issues within the South Dakota volleyball program.

Although Colorado State dropped their face-off against Northwestern, there's a lot to be excited about within the program. Sophomore outside hitter Kennedy Stanford has a swing that, for familiar Ram fans, reflects CSU vet Breana Runnels. It was clear in the match she had found her rhythm, leading the team with 12 kills.

Against a dominant Northwestern roster, led by the strong arm of junior Temi Thomas-Ailara, CSU senior Alexa Roumeliotis showed her value as a defensive specialist. In all but one of the four sets played, CSU kept themselves neck and neck with the Wildcats.

The atmosphere of Moby Arena made it apparent how important the energy of fans is to the teams. For the younger players on CSU's roster, this is the Moby that is known and promised for the esteemed volleyball program.

Colorado State will face off against the University of Northern Colorado, a staple non-conference game, in Greeley on Tuesday, Aug. 31. Additionally, CSU Soccer hosts Kansas State on Sunday, Sept. 5.

Colorado State Football also kicks off their long-awaited season opener against South Dakota State on Friday, Sept. 3. Mask mandates are in place for indoor places at Canvas Stadium, but there is no capacity limit for the game. The stands are expected to be packed and it will be an exciting gameday, so read up on everything you need to know before Friday.
