The CSU men's basketball team didn't quite make the cut for the NCAA tournament, but they DID earn a number-one seed in the NIT tournament.

According to Colorado State University, the team was one of the 16 schools selected for the tournament and will take on Buffalo in the first round down in Denton, Texas on Friday night. The game will be aired on ESPN 2. The winner will advance to play the winner of the Davidson vs North Carolina State game.

Mountain West Coach of the Year Niko Medved continued to improve his squad in this crazy year, leading them to an 18-6 record including a 14-4 clip in conference play.

The Rams have been selected for postseason play 21 times, this will the be the 10th time they've been picked to hit the NIT. The last time was in 2017 when they were eliminated in the second round.

Their best NIT appearance came back in 1988 when they finished third overall. The Rams have a lifetime record of 7-9 in this tournament.

We here at Townsquare Media are proud to be your official home for Rams sports, so you will be able to catch all of the NIT action on Power 102.9.

Let's cheer on the green and gold and keep this season going...GO RAMS.
