Honoring and recognizing veterans is not a one-day deal as far as I'm concerned. It's something that's always been, is now, and always will be something that will be a common occurrence in our house as long as I'm around.

Veteran's Day is the day where everyone seems to go all out, It's a beautiful thing and a great time to reflect and remember those that have sacrificed so much of themselves for our freedom. And for that, I will always be forever indebted to our veterans.

I come from a long line of veterans in my family starting with my grandfathers. Both of them actually fought in World War I. I know I have some old pictures buried somewhere but with all of the moves over the years, I couldn't dig them out for this article. I'm making it my mission to find those in the next day or so. I did manage to find some other gems though.

My father was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army and fought on the front lines of the Korean War where he was honored with the CIB badge. I've always been and always will be proud of my Dad's service and accomplishments.

I've also had two uncles that served in Vietnam including my Uncle Charlie, pictured here in 1970:

I also had two cousins and many friends/former classmates that served in Afghanistan. So while I never had the courage to take that step into the military, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for all of those that have and continue to do so.

That's why it makes me so happy to see so many people and businesses stepping up and providing some sweet deals for our vets today. Check them out HERE.
