On Sunday, Sept. 5, the Greeley Police Department released news about a custody inmate from Weld County Jail. On Sept. 4, the female inmate was reportedly found in medical distress and was attended to by Weld County Sheriff's Office deputies.

According to the release, the deputies and medical staff at Weld County Jail began life-saving efforts, unfortunately to no avail. The medical incident began around 11:30 p.m. and the inmate was pronounced dead at 12:05 a.m.

Due to the nature of the incident, the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team will be handling an investigation into the circumstances of the distress incident.

Until next of kin is notified, Greeley police are not releasing the name of the inmate. More information will be released as the investigation gets underway.
