The world needs more trees, and you need at least one, right? Only 350 homeowners will be able to grab a cheap tree, though.

Even though Arbor Day was in April, the Arbor Day Foundation doesn't just work that one day, like Santa Claus. Speaking of which, it will seem a little bit like Christmas when you get to take home a tree for only $25 while helping out the Choice City.

By planting these 350 trees, residents will be helping the City of Fort Collins by helping to provide a flood control system to protect the city's water quality and reduce stormwater runoff (especially during small stream events.)

It's all a part of the Arbor Day Foundation's big 'Community Canopy' program, in collaboration with the City of Fort Collins’ Forestry Division and the Natural Area Department’s 'Nature in the City' program.

This year, the event will have nearly 20 species of trees, as opposed to only four last year; last year only had 225 trees available as well. Go, 2021.

The two-four foot trees are being provided by Fort Collins Wholesale Nursery; they'll be bringing include:

  • Oak
  • Elm
  • Bigtooth Maple
  • Sucker Punch Chokeberry
  • Catalpa
  • Other exciting species agreeable to Fort Collins climate

Sign up to get a tree begins on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, with picking up of the trees happening on Saturday, September 18. You can get ready to sign up on September 7, 2021, by bookmarking this page.
