Two Fort Collins Breweries Won Big at the Great American Beer Festival
We already know that Fort Collins has excellent beer — but now we have the awards to prove it.
We're talking about the results of the 2022 Great American Beer Festival. Crack open a cold one, and let's dive in.
What is the Great American Beer Festival?
The Great American Beer Festival is a national competition that honors the best breweries and beers in the U.S.
According to an Indie Creative Co. press release on behalf of the Colorado Brewers Guild (CBG), an advocacy non-profit for local brewers, Centennial State breweries took home 26 awards at this year's event.
"Colorado proves that we are a leader in the craft beer industry and shows that our brewers continue to brew consistently excellent beers in all types of styles," said CBG Executive Director Shawnee Adelson in the release. "I'm extremely proud to be a Coloradan and of all the winners!"
Out of the 23 winning Colorado breweries, the Choice City is home to two.
Which Fort Collins breweries won?
Congratulations are in order for CooperSmith's Pub & Brewing and Jessup Farm Barrel House.
Indie Creative Co. reports that CooperSmith's took home a silver medal in the Pro-Am competition for their Mark Pennick collaboration Sticky Fingers Saison, a sweet brew with hints of sauvignon blanc grapes and sugar cookies.
Jessup Farm Barrel House won the gold medal in the Wood-and-Barrel-Aged Beer competition for Soft Skills, a barrel-aged beer that Untappd describes as a "Munich-style Dunkel lager."
It might be time to pay these breweries a visit to celebrate.
