Greeley Police Chief Mark Jones has officially announced his retirement from the Greeley Police Department after 35 years of service.

In his time with the department, Chief Jones served as an Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. According to the announcement from Greeley Police, Chief Jones' last day as Chief will be September 11, 2021.

According to Greeley Police, Chief Jones was promoted to the Captain rank in 2014 and became Chief of Police in 2018. In his time as Chief, Chief Jones was responsible for the oversight of 156 officers.

In the interim, the interim City Manager of Greeley, Raymond Lee, will appoint a temporary Chief of Police. They will oversee Chief duties until the hiring process for a permanent replacement is completed. They have not yet hired an interim replacement.
