One of my morning rituals is scrolling through TikTok. I know... I know... However, if I didn't, you wouldn't be able to take this trip down memory lane. If you grew up in Fort Collins, there are definitely going to be some "I remember that place!" moments that will be happening for you.

The one-minute video clip posted by TikTok user akforty7, Ashely Kettering, highlights the best of the best when it comes to Fort Collins in the 90s. The old Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium with the A and Horsetooth Reservoir in the background, the Foothills Mall main court featuring a water fountain, a much-missed 89 cents per gallon gas at the Phillips 66, and the culinary cuisine known as Taco Bell on the corner of Prospect Road and College Avenue.

The TikTok video also highlights Steele's Market, a grocery that fed The Choice City for more than six decades. It's been twenty years since Steele's has operated in Fort Collins before filing for bankruptcy and closing its doors in November of 2001. Steele's is just one of the bittersweet memories that this video highlights. Others include Toddys, Mervyn's, the Swetsville Zoo, Fort Ram, and the Hunt Club.

If any of these ring a bell, you have to watch the video. Even if you are new to Northern Colorado, you should watch it too. Some of these places that are long gone hold precious memories for those that have called Fort Collins home for decades.

Even though I grew up in Arvada, I still feel a strong connection with this video. I, too, know what it feels like to see the place you grew go through changes. Sometimes for the better. Sometimes those changes and looking back can just make you feel melancholy.
