Ham on the Lam: Boulder Police Officer Reunites Piglet with Owner

Although Colorado has an abundance of different species of wildlife within the state, that list does not include wild pigs. Several months ago, however, multiple visitors at Mount Falcon Park were left scratching their heads when they spotted a pig roaming on the trail. As the swine saga continued, it turned out five pigs were actually on the loose inside the Jefferson County park.

Three months later, a Boulder police officer had another run-in with a little ham on the lam. On March 8, the officer noticed a small pig hanging out down by a frozen pond. He captured the cuteness from the day on his body cam.

Unlike the pigs in the park, this precious porker was reunited with its owner right away. Maple is actually an emotional support swine and belongs to a resident who lived in the area. As soon as his guardian called, Maple went running (wee, wee, wee) all the way home. Being the ham that he is, Maple promptly rolled over on his back for a belly rub.

As part of their duty, Boulder Police Department Animal Protection Officers did a quick check on Maple to make sure he was being cared for properly. The exam revealed the piglet to be in good health and well-taken care of, so officers went on their way.
