Today, the Mile High City is living up to that honor.
OLBG.com recently analyzed revenue data from various professional sports teams to find out which states have the most valuable sports cities — and Denver came in at No. 7.
According to the website, the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rockies, and Colorado Rapids produced around $1.15 billion for the Mile High City in 2022, putting it ahead of metropolises like Detroit and Cleveland.
Individually, the Broncos brought in $526 million, while the Rockies secured $270 million. The Nuggets and the Avalanche produced $185 and $178 million, respectively.
This may sound like a lot already, but OLBG.com predicts that Denver's sports teams will be even more profitable in the next five years.
The website foresees that the Rockies and Nuggets will increase their revenues by over 50% and that the Avalanche and Broncos will see more than a 20% spike — meaning the Mile High City's sports industry could be raking in $1.59 billion by 2030.
