Larimer County recorded 2 new COVID-19 deaths this week, including the youngest death in the county since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Larimer County Department of Health first added a new COVID-19 death to its cumulative tally on Tuesday (Feb. 23), which was the death of a 25-year-old Loveland man who died earlier this month on Feb. 13.

Although health officials didn't provide any additional information on the Loveland man, or what factors may have contributed to his death, this is the youngest COVID-19-related death Larimer County has recorded since last March.

The next oldest confirmed COVID death in the county during the pandemic was a 47-year-old woman. The oldest confirmed COVID death so far has been a 104-year-old woman from Fort Collins.

On Wednesday (Feb. 24), an additional COVID-19 death was reported by the county, a 59-year-old Loveland woman who died last Saturday.

There have now been a total of 225 COVID-19 related deaths in Larimer County since the beginning of the pandemic. Of those deaths, 19 have occurred in February alone.

As of Thursday morning (Feb. 25), there have been 19,312 COVID-19 cases accounted for in the county since last March.

Larimer County was considered high-risk on Thursday, with a two-week prevalence rate of 270 cases per 100,000 residents and a positivity rating of 4.4%.

The county will continue to operate under Level Yellow COVID-19 restrictions.
