Imagine this: You just touched down at Denver International Airport - you're exhausted from your flight and you're ready to get back home to NoCo; after about an hour long drive, you finally pull up to your house.. only to see your home has been partially destroyed.

This was the reality a Greeley family faced late last month after returning home from a trip to California, due to the negligence of a man who had been driving a bus under the influence and crashed into Phillip Van Drunen's home.

45-year-old Michael Guerrero-Hernandez had been driving a bus on the evening of June 21 while under the influence, according to arrest reports as per the Greeley Tribune.

A witness reportedly told officers that Guerrero-Hernandez was swerving on the street and causing severe damage along his route before crashing into Philip Van Drunen’s 100-year-old home in the 1400 block of 11th Avenue in Greeley.

Prior to crashing into the Van Drunen's home, Guerrero-Hernandez allegedly side-swiped a vehicle, rear-ended a vehicle, went through a fence in a neighbor’s driveway and drove through a lawn.

Thanks to modern security systems, Van Drunen’s front porch camera managed to capture the entire incident on video. The footage even caught a mailman on the Van Drunen's porch no more than 90 seconds before Guerrero-Hernandez’s crashed the bus into the front of the family's house.

According to Van Drunen, the bus crash destroyed 5 inches of his home's foundation. Fortunately, there wasn't much damage done to the interior the home as a result of the crash.

However, the concrete porch will cost the family thousands of dollars to repair.

Guerrero-Hernandez reportedly tried to flee the scene after crashing into the Greeley family's home, but was unsuccessful as he was stopped by neighbors in the area, as per police reports.

Guerrero-Hernandez told the neighbors that this incident would result in his third DUI.

Officers who responded to the scene took Guerrero-Hernandez into custody upon arrival on scene. He refused to take a chemical test, and an officer revoked his driver’s license, arrest records said.

Michael Guerrero-Hernandez is facing charges for leaving the scene during the June 21 incident and for driving under the influence. He is scheduled for an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. on July 22 in Weld District Court.
