There are so many unique and beautiful landscapes in Colorado, it's hard to pick just a few drives that are considered the most scenic.

Whether it's driving alongside the Rockies on a north/south route, driving west anywhere, or heading east through the flatlands and the prairies of Eastern Colorado, there are different kinds of beauty to be experienced in our great state.

I captured this photo on a simple drive back from Greeley on Highway 392 heading west toward County Road 23 near Severance recently:

This picture and that drive caused me to smile from ear to ear because of the fact that so many times we take these views and roads for granted by trying to get from point A to point B.

It's important to just live in the moment and enjoy what we have here in Northern Colorado, and that's an abundant amount of postcard-worthy views at pretty much every turn.

I thought it would be fun to ask around for people's favorite scenic drives in Northern Colorado, so I did, and these are the results. I'm going to throw in a couple more of my faves too if that's OK. I'm ready to hit the road for some random road trips soon.

1. Let's start with my picture from earlier in the article: HWY 392 driving West, especially on a sun-soaked blue sky day.

2. A NoCo classic, the Cache La Poudre River Canyon (HWY 14)

I've been on this road several times but I'm always driving so it's nice to just take in the views and not have to worry about crashing.

3. Trail Ridge Road

This one will have to wait until the spring thaw as it's closed during the winter months, but I've heard so much about this road. Surprisingly, I haven't made it up there yet. That will change this summer. This road looks incredible!

4. Peak To Peak Highway

I took a drive out to Central City last year and drove along the Peak to Peak Highway. While I was already in love with Colorado at the time, this day and drive made me fall in love with this state even more.

5. Driving Through Central City

Since this was on my adventure on the Peak to Peak Highway, I thought I'd include the drive through Central City which is one of the coolest places in America, in my humble opinion.

6. Big Thompson River Canyon (HWY 34)

My jaw dropped the first time driving through here on our way to Estes and it's one of the first places I take people visiting.

7. On The Prairies Out East - Pawnee National Grasslands

Sure, the mountains and canyons are stunning, but there is also beauty out east as well. I love taking a drive into the wide-open spaces heading out to Pawnee National Grasslands. It's so quiet and peaceful, plus you never know what you're going to come across on those backroads too.

8. Horsetooth

What a gem we have practically in our backyard. The drive out here never gets old as there are so many different spots to stop, stretch your legs and explore, and take in the views, of course.
