A tragic accident claimed the life of one person in Fort Collins on Friday (October 15).

At approximately 6:53 p.m. on Friday evening, Fort Collins Police reportedly received multiple calls regarding a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision that had just taken place in the 1500 block of East Harmony Road.

According to police, a 2019 white Jeep Wrangler was driving westbound on Harmony Road when it collided with a person who was in the roadway.

The pedestrian, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.

Westbound Harmony Road was closed in between McMurry Avenue and Wheaton Drive for nearly 4.5 hours following the crash. Due to the severity of the accident, the Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to the scene to investigate.

Investigators are working to determine whether the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. Police do not suspect that speed or alcohol were factors for the driver of the Jeep, however.

Fort Collins Police remind citizens to always utilize marked crosswalks for the sake of everyone's safety.
Anyone with information regarding this collision who has not already spoken to the police is asked to call Officer Ken Koski at (970) 416 2229.
