A blue bucket has been going up and down multiple times from the Elizabeth Hotel rooftop to the pedestrians in Old Town Fort Collins.

Local nonprofit Realties For Children has been collecting funds in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The donations benefit the essential organization that provided emergency funding for 5,618 children in 2020.

Blue Federal Credit Union & Lion Home Service are matching the first $25,000 in donations. The funds will help provide emergency funding and programs to Larimer County youth who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or are at-risk.

Donors can also contribute online.

As part of the campaign, you will see 10,000 blue pinwheels across Northern Colorado. The blue pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention.

Townsquare Media Radio DJs have been taking over the rooftop on April 7 and 8, broadcasting New Country 99.1, Retro 102.5, 99.9 The Point, 94.3 The X and Power 102.9 from up above over a 36-hour span — with some DJs spending the night inside of a tent on top of the 111 Chestnut Street roof.

Take a look at the fun the DJ's have been having for the event.
