In broad daylight in the middle of a quiet Longmont neighborhood, the unthinkable happened. A domestic violence incident resulted in a woman murdering her ex-boyfriend, a USPS worker while he was delivering mail in a Longmont neighborhood.

According to KDVR, Devan Schreiner, a 26-year-old woman was arrested and booked for 1st-degree murder for shooting and killing her ex-boyfriend, a mail carrier who was on the job at the time.

Police said the woman was booked at the Longmont Police Department and later moved to the Boulder County jail.

Witnesses heard multiple gunshots just after noon in a normally very quiet neighborhood; in fact, a grandmother was understandably shaking at the incident, stating that just a couple of hours before, she was playing outside with her grandchildren.

Police are urging residents in this usually family-friendly quiet neighborhood for their help and asking for any video footage that may have been captured to assist with the process of punishing the suspect.

Longmont Police are currently working with the United States Postal Service on the investigation as there could be federal charges as well, seeing that it was a government worker that was attacked and killed.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact Longmont Police Services at 303-651-8501.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim's family and friends.
