Sen. John Hickenlooper, Three U.S. Senators Test Positive For COVID
John Hickenlooper, along with three other U.S. Senators, announced Thursday, Aug. 20 that he tested positive for a breakthrough case of COVID-19. All three senators are vaccinated.
Hickenlooper said he feels thankful that the vaccine has limited the symptoms of the virus and is going to isolate per his doctor's instructions.
The CDC has reported that breakthrough cases of the virus are and should be expected. They have acknowledged that no vaccine is 100% effective and other precautions should be taken in addition to getting vaccinated.
As of August 9, 2021, the CDC reported 7,608 hospitalizations due to breakthrough cases of COVID-19 and 1,587 deaths due to breakthrough cases as well.
